Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the airtightness and the preservation performance of a thin battery by fusing the periphery of a sealing plate to a case in which a generation element is installed with a soldering material by a seam weld method. CONSTITUTION:A generation element 1 consisting of a solid electrolyte 2, a negative electrode 3 and a positive electrode 4 is hermetically sealed with a ring- like ceramic and sealing plates 6 and 7, thereby a thin battery being constituted. The plates 6 and 7 are fused to the ceramic 5 by interposing soldering materials 8 and 9 between them. Here, the ceramic 5 and the plate 7 are fused with the soldering material 9 to form a case, the generation element 1 is inserted into the case, and the plate 6 and the soldering material 8 are fused by a seam weld method, which is a kind of resistance weldings. For instance, a pair of roller electrodes 17 and 18 which are made to touch the periphery of the plate 6 are rotated while pulse currents are fed to the electrodes 17 and 18, thus parts of the periphery of the plate 6 are subjected to spot welding.
