Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled novel compound having low curing temp., short curing time, and excellent weatherability, and useful as a curing agent, by the dehydration reaction of a partial ester derived from a dicarboxylic acid anhydride and a diol, with a lower acid anhydride.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I(R1 is aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue; R2 is aliphatic, alicyclic, or aromatic diol residue) derived from a dicarboxylic acid anhydride (e.g. hexahydrophthalic anhydride) and a diol (e.g. ethylene glycol) is made to react with a lower acid anhydride (e.g. acetic anhydride). The compound of formula I is converted to the anhydride to obtain the novel carboxylic acid anhydride of formula II (n is 1W100).
