Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a binder of a Cu-containing conductive paint, easily, by dispersing pyrocatechol together with an organic fatty acid Cu salt and fine Cu powder in a solution of an organic fatty acid, and reacting the compounds using the produced Cu ion as the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The pyrocatechol derivative of formula IIW formula IV[R is group of formula V or formula VI (l, m, and n are arbitrary integers)]is prepared easily, economically, without using complicated apparatuses, by dissolving pyrocatechol of formula I together with an organic fatty acid Cu salt and fine Cu powder in solution of an organic fatty acid, and reacting the compound of formula I using the produced Cu ion as the reaction catalyst. The organic fatty acid and the organic fatty acid Cu salt are pref. the combination of palmitic acid, linoleic acid or linolenic acid, and copper acetate, or oleic acid and copper oleate. The conductive paint containing the compound of formula IIW formula IV has comparable properties to an Ag-containing conductive paint, is available easily and economically, and does not cause and eruption on the skin.
