Abstract

PURPOSE: In a high-frequency thawer provided with a refrigerator, the defrosting operation of the refrigerator is inhibited while thawing is being effected, to blow cold wind to the substrate to be thawed constantly, thus increasing the thawing efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A frozen product 4 is placed between the movable heating electrode 3a connecting to the high-frequency source 17 and the stationary heating electrode 3b and thawing is effected by dielectric heating. During the thawing, cold wind made by the refrigerator 7 and the blower 8 in the refrigeration unit 16 is constantly blown to the frozen product to prevent the surface of the product from causing local temperature rise. When thawing completes and the operation of the high-frequency source 17 stops, sequence controlling circuit 18 operates to stop the operation of the refrigeration unit 16 and simultaneously the defrosting heater is automatically switched on to effect the defrosting of the cooler in the refrigerator 8.
