Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled steel having superior machinability without deteriorating the corrosion resistance and hot workability by adding an adequate amount of Al, Ti, Nb, Ta, W, V, Zr or REM to an austenite stainless steel besides Pb.
CONSTITUTION: To an austenite stainless steel contg. ≤0.2% C, ≤2.0% Si, 2W 20% Mn, ≤15% Ni and 16W30% Cr and added 0.03W0.40% Pb, ≤0.10% N, 0.07% S and one or more among ≤3% each of Al, Ti, Nb, Ta, W, V and Zr and ≤1% REM. The deterioration of the hot workability due to Pb added to improve the machinability is inhibited by adding Al, Ti or other componet, and a free cutting austenite stainless steel having superior machinability is obtd.
