Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power loss on the spike absorbing circuit and to increase the power converting efficiency for the subject converter by a method wherein the elements, on which a threshold value voltage will be generated, are connected in parallel to the primary side of a transformer and in series to a rectifying element in the direction to which its forward current is running. CONSTITUTION:A Zener diode or avalanche diode Z or the like is connected in series to the rectifying element CR in such a manner that a threshold value voltage will be generated in the direction to which the forward current is running, and then the above is connected to both terminals of the primary coil of a transformer 1 on the flyback converter. By having this circuit constitution, the spike voltage and spike current generating on the primary coil can be improved and the power loss is reduced, thereby enabling to increase the power converting efficiency of the subject converter.
