NEW MATERIAL:A secoprostanoic acid derivative containing sulfur expressed by formulaI[R1 is H, 1W4C lower alkyl or pharmacologically acceptable cation; R2 and R3 are H or 1W4C lower alkyl; R4 is 3W10C alkyl; n is an integer 3W8; A is formula II (R5 is H or OH which may be protected; the mark * represents an asymmetric carbon atom, and the absolute configuration thereof is R or S or a mixture of both) or sulfur atom].
EXAMPLE: 8-Acetyl-12(S)-hydroxy-7-thia-trans-10-heptadecenoic aid.
USE: An antiagglutinating ageng (agglutination inhibitor) of blood platelets, antiulcer agent, immunological regulating agent, etc. having the physiological activity expectable from the derivative of a fatty acid.
PROCESS: A substituted α,β-unsaturated ketone derivative expressed by formula III (R12 is H or 1W4C lower alkyl) is reacted with a thiolic acid derivative expressed by the formula HSR4, and if necessary the reaction product is subjected to the hydrolysis and salt forming reaction to give the compound expressed by formulaI in which A is S.
