Abstract
PURPOSE:To make easy the gain adjustment, by using a reference voltage used for automatic gain control as the gain control of an amplifier. CONSTITUTION:An output voltage of a reference voltage generating circuit 8 used for automatic gain control is also used for gain control of a comparison amplifier 6. Thus, at greater optical power, AGC is made with the gain control of the AGC amplifier 2 and at smaller optical power, a part of this reference voltage is used as the reference voltage for bias voltage control, and the bias voltage of an Avalanche photo diode APD1 is controlled, and the feedback amount of bias control to the APD1 is made for optimum bias control by matching the amount with the dispersion of the APD1 and changing the feedback gain. As a result, even if the APD has a dispersion, the gain adjustment is easy and the characteristics can be set optimizingly.
