Abstract

PURPOSE:A denitrifrice composition, containing an extract obtained by extracting a crude druge Japanese angelica root with a solvent, e.g. an ether, ester, ketone or alcohol, having improved hemostatic effect and good stability and feeling of use. CONSTITUTION:A Japanese angelica root is extracted with an ether, ester ketone, alcohol or hydrous substance, preferably ethyl ether or ethyl acetate having a low boiling point, as a solvent, and the resultant extract in an amount of 0.05-5wt%, based on the total weight, is incorporated to give a denitrifice composition. The extract of the Japanese angelica root has improved hemostatic effect and low degree of coloring on incorporating in the denitrifrice composition and good stability and feeling of use. Therefore, the extract is an excellent ingredient in the denitrifrice composition. The extraction of the Japanese angellica root is carried out by using the solvent in an amount of 3-20 times that of the Japanese angelica root, and preferably repeating the extracting operations at ordinary temperature -60 deg.C for 3- 48hr about three times. After removing the solvent, the resultant extract is used in the form of a concentrated extract.
