PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous operation of a GTO thyristor by connecting the output terminal of a conductive time generator and the output of a timer circuit through an OR circuit to a gate trigger circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a GTO1 is transferred from a conductive state to non-conductive state in the state that the high level period of the output signal V3 of a conductive time signal generator 3 that a DC motor M is controlled at a low speed is shorter than a low level period, the output signal V3 of the generator 3 is maintained in high level state during special period of time in which the output signal of a timer circuit 4 is inhibited to apply an OFF signal to the gate of the GTO. Therefore, this high level signal is inputted through an OR circuit 5 to a gate trigger circuit 2, so that the gate trigger circuit 2 may not produce a negative pulse to the gate G. In this manner, the erroneous operation of the GTO can be effectively prevented.
