Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of the rolling process, by putting the tail end of a preceding coil on the head end of a following coil for the purpose of connecting two coils, and by changing the rolling speed for the preceding coil from that for the following coil if these two coils are to be separated from each other.
CONSTITUTION: The tail end of a preceding coil 3 is put on the head end of a following coil 4, between a feed reel 1 and the 1st stand F1 of a tandem cold rolling mill; as two coils' end parts are kept overlapped, the coil is threaded from the 1st stand F1 to a tension reel 2; then, the coil is subjected to a rolling process. When the overlapped part arrives at a prescribed rolling stand, the rolling speed for the preceding coil 3 is increased so as to be faster than that for the following coil 4, so that two coils' overlapping parts are separated from each other. The rolling process for the preceding coil 3 is then continued with an ordinary rolling speed, and the coil 3 is coiled by the tension reel 2. By the present sheet threading method, the welding, etc., for connecting the preceding coil 3 to the following coil 4 is not needed so that the efficiency of the rolling process is improved to a level similar to that of a perfectly continuous rolling process.
