The exposed part of the belt 24 is provided in an automatic copy original device 1, a cleaning agent is spread on the exposed part of the belt 24, and the cleaning agent containing stain is wiped off from the belt 24 with a moisture absorber, thus permitting uneven cleaning to be prevented by continuously rotating the belt 24, and cleaning to be made in a short time.
