Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an immersion nozzle which prevents the generation of local abrasion and has a considerably improved life by disposing a mixture of alumina of middle grains, graphite, silica, a binder, etc. in the part in contact with a molten molding powder of a nozzle body, then molding and calcining the same. CONSTITUTION:60-95wt% Alumina of >=0.3mm. grain sizes in 35-95% of the entire part and up to 0.3mm. for the balance, 2-10% graphite, <=30% one or more kinds of silica and silicon carbide, and <=13% binder (resin and pitch or the like) that provides carbon bond after calcining are kneaded. This compound is disposed near the part in contact with a molten powder layer 3 in a nozzle body 5, and is molded with an isostatic press, after which it is calcined in a reducing atmosphere, whereby a refractory layer 6 is formed. The immersion nozzle for continuous casting of reduced local abrasion at the interface of the molten powder 3 and molten steel 2 and a long service life is obtained by compounding alumina of middle or coarse grains in the nozzle material 5.
