Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an immersion nozzle which keeps thermal expansion value low and prevents the generation of local abrasion by disposing the zirconia-graphite base mixture compounded with a binder in the part in contact with a molten molding powder layer of a nozzle body, then molding and calcining the same. CONSTITUTION:60-95wt% Zirconia contg. <=20% zirconia stabilized with yttria prepd. by adding 1-30wt% yttria to unstabilized zirconia, <=35% graphite, and <=13% a binder (resin and pitch or the like) that provides carbon bonds after reduction calcination are kneaded. This compound is disposed near the part in contact with a molten powder layer 3 in a nozzle body 5, and is molded with an isostatic press, after which it is calcined in a reducing atmosphere, whereby a refractory layer 6 is formed. Thereby, the immersion nozzle for continuous casting of less generation of local abrasion near the interface of the molten steel 2 and the molten powder 3 and a long service life is obtained.
