Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a speed changer control device which performs a control of automatic setting into the shift position to provide the minimum rate of fuel consumption by placing in memory the equal rate-of-fuel-consumption curve for the engine with the fuel pressure and revolving speed as addressing information, reading rates of fuel consumption at the current speed position and at positions one step up and down, and by comparing them for determination of the most appropriate position of shifting.
CONSTITUTION: Revolving speed N of an engine 1 is controlled with an accelerator pedal 2 and the power is transmitted to the wheels 7 through an torque converter, speed changer 4 and shaft 5. A pressure sensor 8 senses the fuel pressure Pf applied to the injector of engine 1 and sends the corresponding pressure signa ep to the speed changer control device 10. An engine speed sensor 9 senses the revolving speed N of the engine and sends the corresponding signal Pn to the control device 10, which controls a shifting valve 5 of speed changer 3 on the basis of obtained revolving speed N of the engine and the fuel pressure f so that the rate of fuel consumption becomes lowest without change in the car speed.
