Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a fuel consumption of a vehicle and increase a life of a converter, by previously storing a preferable region of a lock up operation in every speed shifting stage and automatically performing the lock up operation and a release of the lock up operation on reference to said stored memory.
CONSTITUTION: A preferable region for a lock up operation in every speed shifting stage is previously stored in a memory device ROM (Read Only Memory) 402 to read a throttle position and car speed at a prescribed period of a vehicle in travelling motion by a throttle position sensor 430 and car speed generator 420, compare them with memory data in the memory device ROM402, obtain a lock up information and perform a lock up control on the basis of the above information. In this way, the lock up operation is capable in every speed shifting stage, and in the region for a torque converter to display its effect of speed change a deterioration of power performance can be prevented and in the region not to display the effect a state of lock up operation can be obtained, thus a fuel consumption of the vehicle can be improved and a life of the converter can be increased.
