Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the loaded condition of sheets in a collocating device for copying machine to be easily and surely detected, by providing light emitting elements for detecting an empty bin and for detecting a bin full of sheets, on the bottom of the bin and in the vicinity of the sheet entrance of the bin, respectively, thereby to detect light from them through a common light receiving element.
CONSTITUTION: Sheets which are guided by a bin selection pawls 32 and vertically conveying rollers 19, 19', are loaded on a bin below a projecting portion 47, causing light from an LED48 to be intercepted so that a detector 49 removes a signal indicating the detection of empty bin. When light from an LED50 is intercepted by sheets successively loaded on the bin above the projecting portion 47, the detector 49 detects the bin full of loaded sheets. The detector 49 is provided with an optical filter 52 through which light having a wave length corresponding to that of the LED is transmitted, and is extended in an oblique direction with respect to the LED50 near to the detector 49 itself. The LEDs 48, 50 are alternately turned on by means of clock signals, while, when a sheet is inserted into a bin 321, a signal from an inlet sensor nullifies the operation of the detection of the sheet loading condition, thereby to prevent erroneous detection.
