Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a superior image by imagewise exposing a photographic sensitive silver halide material, forming a silver image reverse to the image of the silver halide emulsion layer in a layer contg. physically developing nuclei by a system for diffusion-transferring silver complex salt, and carrying out image intensification with the silver image as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A photographic sensitive silver halide emulsion formed on a support in >=1 layer is imagewise exposed and developed in the presence of a solvent for the silver halide, and a transferred silver image reverse to the image of said silver halide emulsion layer is formed in >=1 image receiving layer contg. >=1 kind of physically developing nuclei on the same or other support. The oxide of a developing agent capable of coupling with a coupler contained in the image receiving layer is then produced in the presence of an oxidizing agent by the catalysis of the surface of said transferred silver image to form a dye image like the silver image. The resulting image has less fog than an image obtd. by a conventional image intensifying method.
