Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit one-hand operation with ease by a micrometer wherein an operating knob is turned by fingers of a hand which has gripped a grip portion to move a spindle via a pinion and rack in the longitudinal direction, so that a displacement amount is displayed on a dial type indicator. CONSTITUTION:As an operating knob 9 is turned by fingers of one hand which has gripped a grip portion 3a of a grip member 3, a spindle 4 is moved in its longitudinal direction via a pressure-constant device 10 with engagement of a pinion 11 and a rack 4a. A length of travel of the spindle 4 is transmitted to a gear enlargement mechanism via the rack 4b and a pinion 6, and then displayed on a dial type indicator 5 by means of pointers 7, 8 as a displacement amount. This permits one-hand operation with ease.
