Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled aggregate in which, under observation with electron microscope, tobermorite crystals irregularly tangle and binds with oe another to form cocoon or echinoid shapes and aggregates of a specific diameter, thus giving light- weight and tough formed products only by pressing.
CONSTITUTION: A starting substance of silicic acid such as kieselguhr and another starting substance of calcium such as a powder of slaked lime are charged in an autoclave without addition of water to effect the reaction between them at high temperature under high-pressure steam with stirring to produce an aggregate of calcium silicate hydrate of 3W150μ diameter, whose tobermorite and/or xonotlite crystalls tangle with one another, under observation with electron microscopy, to girve cocoon or echinoid shapes.
