Abstract
PURPOSE: To detect the filling of filtering chamber with cake by a method in which water to be filtered is sent to a filter press, and pressure produced when the filtering chamber is filled with cake is measured by an oil pressure pushing the moving end plate of the filter press.
CONSTITUTION: Raw liquid to be filtered is sent under pressure into plural filtering chambers through a liquid supply port 16 provided in the fixed end plate 1 side of a filter press by means of a centrifugal type liquid supply pump 14. As the filtering chambers are filled with cake, pressure applying on a moving end plate 2 fixing a group of a large number of filter frames 9 and filter plates 8 is increased and then transmitted to pressurized oil inside the cylinder chamber 6 of an oil-pressure cylinder 3 through a piston rod 5 and piston head 4 for fixing the moving end plate 2. The pressure is detected by a pressure detector 15 provided to an oil supply pipe 11 leading to the cylinder 6, and when it approaches the initial pressure of rhe oilpressure cylinder, the filling of the filtering chamber with cake is detected, the supply of raw liquid is stopped, and the cake is taken out.
