According to such a constitution, in case of a play mode, an exact tape position is always detected even if the same mode is continued for many hours, and also even if a play mode, and a quick forwarding or rewinding mode are repeated, dropout of the control signal or a detection error caused by a noise is not accumulated, and an exact tape position is detected.
