Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a mechanism part and to prolong the life of a tape, by determining the running speed of a tape on the basis of information, regarding time, recorded on a tape. CONSTITUTION:Target position indication information (b) is supplied from a total control circuit 4 to a time-code substracting circuit 5, and present position information (c) which corresponds to a time code of a tape discriminated by a time-code discriminating circuit 2 is passed through the time-code substracting circuit 5 to find the difference between those two pieces of information (b) and (c), i.e., speed information (d). The speed information (d) is written in a speed register 6. It is also supplied to the total control circuit 4 and operation indication information (a) is supplied to a control circuit 3. As a result, a video tape recorder 1 is brought under the tape feed speed control of the control circuit 3 on the basis of an analog signal (e) outputted from a D/A converting circuit 7. Thus, the reliability of a mechanism part is improved and the life of a tape is prolonged.
