Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an antitumor substance having low side effects and easily separable from the cultivation medium, by using the cells of bacteria belonging to Acetobacter genus as active component.
CONSTITUTION: Cells of bacteria belonging to Acetobacter genus (e.g. Acetobacter aceti IF03283 strain) are used as an active component. The cultivation of the bacteria is carried out aerobically in a conventional medium for acetic acid bacteria, usually at 20W45°C for 20W120hr under shaking or aeration and agitation. After cultivation, the bacterial cells are collected by centrifugal separation, and washed with physiological saline water to remove the medium components and the components out of the cell. The antitumor activity of the bacterial strain is relatively stable against heat, and does not exhibit the cytotoxicity, decrease in leucocyte, loss of weight, anorexia, etc. by the experiment with mouse.
