Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality and productivity, by classifying cast ingots successively conveyed from a casting line according to the rolling schedule, by heating these classified cast ingots with plural heating furnaces separately, by extracting required cast ingots in a unit lot from the heating furnace, and by rolling these cast ingots in a unit lot. CONSTITUTION:The cast ingots conveyed from the casting line are selectively classified into separte rolling lots (a), (b), (c) by a table 2 installed in front of a group of heating furnaces. Then the cast ingots belonging to respective rolling lot (a), (b) or (c) are respectively charged into heating furnaces 3A, 3B, 3C and are heated therein. The heat input to each of heating furnaces 3A, 3B, 3C is controlled correspondingly to the rolling schedule of each lot; meanwhile, the cast ingots of either one rolling lot are extracted from a concerned heating furnace, and are fed to a rolling mill 5 for a scheduled rolling process.
