Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a required water head at all times, by connecting a header to the outlet of a pump driven by a wind mill or turbine, extending a plurality of water lifting pipes from the header, and opening and closing the pipes according to the charge in the output power of the pump.
CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus in which water is pumped up by driving a pump (f) through rotation of a wind mill, a header (h) is connected to an outlet pipe (g) of the pump (f) and a pluraity of water lifting pipes having different diameters are connected to the header (h). These lifting pipes respectively have automatic control valves aWe, which are opened in the order of (a)W(e) along with increasing of wind velocity but closed in the reverse order along with decreasing of wind velocity. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to obtain a required water head regardless of the change in the input power to the pump (f) that is caused by the change of wind velocity and to thereby enhance reliability of operation of the power plant.
