Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the drop of bricks during tilting of a pan as far as possible while assuring the effective volume for the volume of the pan sufficiently by specifying the brick holding mechanism of a metallurgical vessel.
CONSTITUTION: The slag lined wear bricks 4i in the uppermost stage of the metallurgical vessel form tapered surfaces (b) inclining toward upward and the inner side of a furnace on their outside circumferential surfaces. On the other hand, monolithic refractories (high alumina castable refractories are conceivable as material) 6 are applied between the bricks 4i and a shell 1, and this results in that they have tapered surfaces (c) engaging tightly with the surfaces (b).
