Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the solidification of a magnetic toner and to ensure the smooth supply of the toner, by stirring the toner in a hopper by means of an alternating mangetic field. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric drum 6 turns clockwise, and a magnetic cylinder 1 is fixed to the drum 6. A nonmagnetic sleeve 2 is fitted with a play to the cylinder 1 and turns counterclockwise. A hopper 4 is provided at the upper part of the sleeve 2, and a coil 7 turned horizontally is provided to the outside of the hopper 4 to be connected to a means that supplies an alternating current. When the alternating current is applied to the coil 7, the direction and the poarity of a magnetic field piercing through the hopper 4 in the upper and lower directions vary alternately. Thus the toner is repetitively and alternately stirred as shown by the arrows of dotted lines.
