Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtan a magnetic recording medium which never curls even when made thin, and has an excellent head touch and superior recording and reproduction efficiency, by fixing a medium, having a magentic layer on a flexible base, to an annular frame while tensile force is applied. CONSTITUTION:A flexible recording medium 1 having a magnetic layer 3 on a filmlike flexible base 2 is fixed to an annular frame 4 whle tensile force is applied. In the center of the reverse surface of the medium 1, a cylindrical spindle fixing member 5 s fixed. Consequently, the medium 1 never curls and during recording and reproduction, a magnetic head 6 may be pressed directly against the medium 1. For vertical magnetic recording, the interval between a main matnetic pole and an auxiliary magnetic pole can be decreased, improving recording efficiency.
