Abstract
PURPOSE:To generate a polyphase control signal having a prescribed phase difference, by a simple constitution, and to obtain an exact servo-speed information, by providing plural fead gaps having a prescribed length at prescribed intervals in the direction of the diameter of a disk, on a control signal read head. CONSTITUTION:Plural read gaps, for instance, two pieces HG1, HG2 of a read head HD are provided in the direction of the diameter of a magnetic disk, length of both is same as the width of each odd and even number track O, E of the magnetic disk, and a gap pitch is made about 1.5 times as wide as the width of the tracks O, E. Accordingly, a polyphase control signal which has no discontinuous point and corresponds to a position error of two phases, etc. of a phase difference of linear 90 deg., etc. in the direction of the diameter of the disk is generated through the gaps HG1, HG2. It is unnecessary to record a polyphase control signal, etc. in the disk, and an exact speed signal is formed by a simple constitution, and a stable magnetic disk servo-information is obtained.
