PURPOSE:To realize the reproduction of a picture of a high degree of sharpness with a low cost for a TV picture display device containing a compensating circuit using an inductance, by connecting diodes to the inductance of a high range emphasizing circuit. CONSTITUTION:The high frequency component showing the contour of a picture emerges across an inductance 9 that forms a negative feedback type high-range compensating circuit. When diodes 10 and 11 are connected across the inductance 9, the impedance viewed from the both ends of the diodes 10 and 11 turns on the diodes to the picture signal having a small amplitude of <=+ or -0.5mA AC amplitude when the current value of a current source 12 is set previously at 1mA. Thus a low level of impedance is obtained to short-circuit the noise of the greater part of the flat area on the screen. Either of the diodes 10 and 11 is cut off with the picture signal having >=+ or -0.5mA large amplitude. As a result, the impedance is opened, and the signal showing the contour part is transmitted after emphasized as it was.
