Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool a strip uniformly in its width direction by forming the circulating flow passages for a cooling medium in a roll specifically. CONSTITUTION:The cooling medium circulating in a cooling roll 1 is supplied from the supply ports 3 in both end parts of a roll shaft 2 into the roll. Thence, it flows through the flow passages provided spirally from both end parts of the roll to the center, toward the central part of the roll. Thereafter, it passes through the center hole 5 running in the roll center and returns to the port 3 side, from which it is discharged. It is equally well to supply the same from both end parts of the roll to the central part through the central part of the roll and to supply spirally from the part near the central part to both end parts, exactly reverse from this.
