Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold the surface temperature of a heat roller in the best condition all the time by providing a heating means which has plural heat sources differing in the heat distribution in the length-wise direction of the rollr and by detecting its temperature at plural positions and controlling it. CONSTITUTION:A heat roller and a pressure roller 2 pressed against the fromer are provided. The heat roller 1 is constituted by providing a thin film 1'' of an offset preventing material, such as silicon rubber, around the peripheral surface of a hollow metallic roll 1' and by arranging, for example, four heaters 3-6 in the hollow in parallel to one another; respective heaters 3-6 have heating elements 3'-6' differing in length and heat the roller 1 at mutually different parts. Temperature detecting elements 7-9 are used to measure the temperature of the heat roller 1 at respective positions and under control based upon the measurement, the heaters 3-6 are turned on and off to hold the surface of the heat roller 1 at the best temperature.
