Abstract

PURPOSE: Amylose is dissolved in an aqueous alkali to form a dope, which is made into liquid drops in a specific solvent, then the drops are made to react with a crosslinking agent to produce the titled particles suitably used as a gal filtration agent, because of its high and controllable exclusion-limit molecular weight.
CONSTITUTION: For example, the amylose obtained from starch by the Pacsu method is dissolved in an alkali aqueous solution, preferably 2W6N sodium or potassium hydroxide solution, to form a solution of 15W25wt% concentration. The solution is dispersed in a solvent that does no dissolve the dope such as liquid paraffin to form liquid drops and a crosslinking agent such as epichlorohydrin is made to react to produce the objective particles of more than 5 swelling degree, which is defined as a ratio of wet gel in ml/dry gel in g. The volume of the solvent is 3.5W 5 times the weight of the above alkaline solution and the amount of the crosslinking agent is 0.5W15mol/liter of the above solvent.
