PURPOSE:To cause partial conversion reaction and prevent the overrising of the temp. of catalyst beds effectively by providing a small-sized prereactor on the upper stream of process flow to a main reactor of exothermic contact conversion reaction. CONSTITUTION:In an exothermic contact conversion reaction, a small sized prereactor R-1 by which exothermic contact reaction is partially carried out is provided on the upper stream of the process flow to a main reactor R-2. The, the occurrence of concentration of the reaction heat by the initial reaction of gaseous raw material contg. virtually no products of conversion is dispersed to the entire part of the catalysts in the prereactor R-1, and the overrising of the entire catalyst bed temp. is prevented effectively. Hence, the life of the catalysts used for the main reactor R-2 is extended.
