Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the costs required for construction of a wind-activated power plant which is operated at the top of the high support tower, by enabling to decrease the safety factor of strength of the plant through employment of such an arrangement that its windmill and generator unit are mounted on the support tower in a vertically movable manner.
CONSTITUTION: A square support tower 15 constituted by four post members 7 is erected on a stationary base 16 made of reinforced concrete, and a lift mechanism 13 is costructed in the manner of surrounding the four post members 7 and capable of moving vertically along guide faces formed on the outer surface of respective posts 7 of the support tower 15 by the aid of rollers. The lift 13 is connected to one end of a wire rope 10 which is passed around a pulley 11 at the top of the tower 15, so that it can be moved upward and downward through operation of a hoist 12 having the other end of the wire rope 10 wound therearound. Further, a circular turning track 14 is formed around the lift 13, so that the body 3 of the windmill generator having a tail fin 4, blades 2 and generator 9 fixed thereto can be turned in a horizontal plane.
