Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart an outside air cooling function to an air conditioner with a heat pump installed outdoors, for example, on the roof.

CONSTITUTION: During an intermediate period in which the outside air is neither hot nor cold, an outside air cooling operation of the air conditioner 1 such as to introduce the outside air directly may be conducted, for example, by a method wherein a bypass damper 20 is fully opened, while an outside air damper 24 is fully closed, and a total heat exchanger 7 and an outside air intake fan 8 are bypassed. In this case, the outside air introduced through an outside air intake port 5 and a prefilter 6 flows into a branch chamber 16 and a mixing chamber 9 through a by- pass duct 21, and after being cleaned by a main filter 10, it is fed out into an air feeding duct 3 by an air feeding fan 13. As alternative, in an outside air cooling operation in which an outside air intake port 25 is used, the outside air damper 24 and a recirculation damper 16A are opened and the bypass damper 20 is closed. In this case, the air sucked in through the port 25 by the fan 13 is fed out into the duct 3 after being cleaned.
