Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent burner bricks from cracking, coming off or deterioration due to corrosion by a method wherein a part of the whole of the surface of the captioned ceramic burner in the hot blast stove is coated with a refractory material.
CONSTITUTION: The refractory material having a stabilized quality against heat impact and dust is coated, by spraying, on a part or the whole of the surface of the ceramic burner 3 arranged within the hot blast furnace 1. The refractory material consists, for example, of (all by weight) 25W50% of silica powder, 5W40% of magnecium silicate and a suitable quantity of colloidal silicon. Thus, by spraying such refractory material on the surface of the burner, the burner bricks are protected against heat impact and corrosion due to dust.
