Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the corrosion resistance property of steel piers for wharf, etc., in the sea water by a method in which an anticorrosive layer is formed on the surface of a steel pier and then a protective cover with a shock absorbing material is integrally attached to the anticorrosive layer and fixed by screws and stoppers.
CONSTITUTION: An anticorrosive layer 4 consisting of a primer layer made of a petrolatum-dominated anticorrosive material and an anticorrosive tape is closed adhered to the splash belt of a steel pier to be erected in the sea water for landing stage, etc., and then a rectangulr plate 6 with screws 5 is provided on the anticorrosive layer 4. Then, a composite material 8 consisting of a fiber-reinforced plastic plate 7, prepared by impregnating and hardening a thermosetting resin composition, e.g., of epoxy resin, etc., in a glass cloth, and a shock absorber 9 made of an elastomer is provided on the rectangular plate 6 and fixed by screws 5 and nuts 12. In the steel pier, the composite material 8 is protected from coming off by means of a stopper 13 projectionally provided to the anticorrosive layer 4.
