Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition that is given by adding a substituted 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative and a hindered phenol stabilizer to polyolefin, thus stabilizing harmful metal ions in polluted water contacting therewith and being suitably used for insulated vinyl sheath cables.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of polyolefin, preferably low-density polyethylene, are kneaded with 0.05W1pt. of a substiuted 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative and/or hydroxyacridine or its derivative having at least one of alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, acyl, amide, oxime, hydroxyl, formly, and amino groups, preferably methyloxine and 0.05W5pts. of a hindered phenol stabilizer bearing at least one t-butyl group and/or a β-hydroxynaphthoic acid amide derivative of the formula (R is H, alkyl, alkoxy).
