Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the initial compatibility of a metallic traveler with a ring and eliminate the yarn breakage, traveler burn, etc., by dispersing and incorporating specific solid fine particles, e.g. fluororesin or sericite, having the lubricity previously in the plating layer on the surface of the metallic traveler. CONSTITUTION:A metallic plating layer 4 in which solid fine particles 4, e.g. fluororesin, sericite, graphite or boron nitride, having the lubricity and a particles size of 0.1-10mu are dispersed and incorporated in a metallic coat, e.g. nickel, is provided on at least the inner surface 2 of a metallic traveler to be in contact with a ring to give a coat thickness of 10mu. EFFECT:The solid fine particles cause the interlaminar slip by the friction with the ring in the initial using period of the metallic traveler to form a lubricant layer, and the frictional resistance is reduced to prolong the metallic traveler life remarkably.
