Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a spot welding gun with improved scratch resistance by a method wherein an electric insulation resin coating, the plasma spraying layer of a flexible metal and the plasma spraying layer of a high electric resistant metal are sequentially provided on the surface of a substrate body and a resin liquid is impregnated in fine pores of said plasma spraying layers under vacuum. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a substrate body of the arm of a welding gun made of a copper alloy is roughened and a thin coating 12 of an electric insulation resin such as an epoxy resin or the like. The surface of the resulting resin coating is further roughened and a metal with good flexibility such as zinc or the like is plasma sprayed to form a thin coating 13. Subsequently, a metal with high electric resistance such as a SUS type or the like is plasma sprayed on an upper surface of said coating 13 to form a coating 14 with a thickness of about 1-1.5mm.. The resulting coated arm substrate body is entered into a vacuum tank or the like along with a resin liquid such as an epoxy or the like and the interior of said tank is evacuated to degas air in fine pores of the metal coating 14. Next, when the pressure in the tank is returned to atmospheric pressure, the resin liquid is impregnated and filled in said fine pores. When the impregnated resin is subjected to curing treatment, the arm of the electrically insulative welding gun is completed.
