Abstract

PURPOSE:To monitor communication between data terminals having various speeds and codes with one type of monitoring terminal, by connecting a monitoring device having speed and code converting functions to an exchange circuit network of a data exchanger. CONSTITUTION:A monitor device M is connected to an outgoing data line A and incoming data circuit B which are connected via a switch contact SW1 with an exchange circuit network SN of a data exchanger through switch contacts SW2, SW3. The monitor device M has an interface circuit and a microprocessor. The microprocessor is connected with the lines A, B via the interface circuit, and the communcation telegraphic message and call connection procedure between the lines A and B are converted into the form coresponding to a high-speed data terminal T through software control. This conversion can be applied to a call setting procedure including the content of full duplex communication between two arbitrary parties having various speeds and codes (not limited to the communication between specific lines), and special characters such as DP dial and the like.
