Abstract
PURPOSE:To quicken the switching speed of polarized waves, by switching the polarized waves electrically, through the use of waveguide phase shifter as a connecting waveguide coupling a power distributor having polarized wave discriminating function and a hybrid circuit. CONSTITUTION:Electromagnetic waves incident from a rectangular waveguide 20 are slit into two electromagnetic waves having the same electric field at a modulated magic T18 and are made incident to a waveguide type phase shifter 17. Assuming that one part of a waveguide type phase shifter 17 is operated and the extent of phase shift in 180 deg. is given. In this case, electromagnetic waves having opposite electric field are made incident to a power distributor 15 through a taper waveguide 16. Opposite electric field changes in the order of (a), (b), (c) and it is a parallel polarized wave A to a metallic plate 14. On the other hand, if the extent of phase shift of a waveguide type phase shifter 17 is 0 deg., electromagnetic waves having the same direction of electric field are made incident to the power distributor 15. In such case, the waves become vertical polarized waves B to the metallic plate 14.
