Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease weight of an electromagnetic spring brake, by using a braking coil spring partially as a magnetic flux circuit generated from voltage applied to an electromagnetic coil. CONSTITUTION:A coil spring 25 of square shaped section is interposed between a bottom part 13A of a cubic body 13 housing an electromagnetic coil and an armature 20. To stop driving motion of a rotary shaft when a power source circuit is opened, application of voltage is simultaneously suspended to the electromagnetic coil 1, then magnetic flux disappears to demagnetize the armature 20. Accordingly, the armature 20 strongly presses a friction plate 21 to a mounting plate 16 to block its racing.
