Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the explosion due to the internal ignition and make water nonfreezing by providing the water storage comprising in a water storage a sealed container in a midway of a water addition tube of an assembled battery and covering the container with an insulating material and passing vent gas into the water storage. CONSTITUTION:A tank 2 and cover 3 of a sealed container 1 are sticked or welded together air-and-liquid tightly, a gas inlet pipe 4 is provided air-and-liquid tightly on the cover 3, and the bottom of the pipe 4 is opened in water 8 contained in the lower part of the sealed container 1. A gas outlet pipe 5 is provided air-and-liquid tightly on the cover 3, and the bottom end is opened in the upper space of the container 1. The gas inlet pipe 4 and gas outlet pipe 5 are connected to a water addition device of a battery through water addition tubes 6, 7. A sheet heater 9 is attached around the sealed container 1, and an insulating material 10 such as foam resin sheet or nonwoven fabric covers the outside of the heater 9.
