Abstract
PURPOSE: A carboxylic ester-containing and disulfide bond group-containing polymer is hydrolyzed to produce the titled polymer that can make antitumor antibody bind with a cytotoxin such as an anticancer agent efficiently.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer that consists of the structural units of formula I [X is carboxyl protecting group, which is 1W4C alkyl, benzyl or substituted benzyl; m is 1W4] by more than 60mol%, includes disulfide bond groups of formula II (W is divalent organic group; R1 is H, 1W4C alkyl; R2 is alkyl, aralkyl, aryl) in the main chain or on the carboxyl terminals in the main chain and has a polymerization degree of 5W3,000 is hydrolyzed with an acid or alkali to remove the protecting groups X on the carboxyls. Further, when desired, the carboxyls are made into salt with a monovalent cation to give the objective polymer.
