Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:5β-Acetoxy-10-formly-3,4α-epoxy-15-methoxy-14-ene-16-oxo-17β- bufa-20,22-dienolide of the formula.
USE: Insecticide: further, it has anticancer activity.
PREPARATION: A plant in Africa, Bersma abyssinica, is extracted with a polar solvent and the extract is concentrated under reduced pressure. The resultant primary extract is combined with 50% (V/V) methanol aqueous solution and extracted with hexane. Further, the lower layer is extracted with chloroform and the extract is concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the secondary extract. The extract is subjected to silica gel chromatography and extracted with a methanol-chloroform (4:96, V/V) mixed solvent to obtain the compound of the formula.
