Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the thermal stability and to prevent the deterioration of the adsorbing characteristics by bringing sodium A type zeolite into contact with a soln. of a specified pH contg. Ca ions when 5A type zeolite is manufactured by exchanging part of Na ions in the sodium A type zeolite for Ca ions.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium A type zeolite is brought into contact with an aqueous soln. of a water soluble Ca salt contg. Ca ions such as Ca(OH)2 to exchange part of Na ions in the zeolite for Ca ions, thus manufacturing 5A type zeolite. During this ion exchange, a medium contg. the zeolite is adjusted to 11.3W11.9pH, or when the partially ion exchanged zeolite is separated from the ion exchanging soln. and washed, it is washed with a Ca ion-contg. soln. adjusted to 11.3W11.9pH. The resulting zeolite undergoes less thermal deterioration during calcination and heat regeneration and has superior adsorbing performance.
