Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover an ink mist effectively by moving it in the direction of a recording paper with an electric field applied between a pair of electrodes provided in a charge deflection type ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:Shield electrodes 20 and 21 are provided with slits 20a and 21a to apply an electric field E1 between the electrodes so that an ink mist may be moved toward the shield electrode 21. The ink mist is attached to the shield electrode 21, not moving toward a deflection electrode 3. As a platen 5 is insulated, when an ink drop is attached to a recording paper 4, an electric field E2 is formed near the ink drop. The ink mist is moved to the shield electrode 21 and collected because of the polarity the same as that of the ink drop. With such an arrangement, the ink mist can be recovered effectively with a simple construction thereby preventing the polution of the deflection electrode and the recording paper by ink.
